Sita(The Warrior of Mithila): Review

Sita (warrior of Mithila)

Author: Amish Tripathi
Publishers: Westland Publishers
Pages: 361

Sita, though we all know her, respect her. yet, it was an overwhelming experience to know her better this way. This book and all the others by Amish stand apart in present time not only because of their unique concepts but also interest, that author endocrinate through the unknown facts in our already well known stories..

Sita is a story where her own life is discussed with precise details. This eventually pave the aisle of the holy storyline of Ramayana. Her image engraved was of a beautiful, extremely loyal and purest soul as lord Ram’s wife. But Amish discusses a hidden identity of hers. The other side of her character: As a warrior, as an exceptionally brilliant student, as a prime minister, as a special progeny, as a mother to her sister and as Vishnu..

Story starts with the founding of Sita wrapped under a cloth, being saved by a vulture when her adoptive mother Sunaina discovered her on her way back from a visit to kanyakumari with King Janak. They brought her to their palace with them and this brought back the lost prosperity of  Mithila. Later she was sent to the ashram of guru Shvetaketu where maharshi Vishvamitra, the malayaputra’s head screened her up as future Vishnu. But vayuputras had their own distinct plans.

As Sita grew up, Sunaina left the world landing responsibilities of young Urmila and King Janak onto her. She accepted the charge of being the prime minister of Mithila and performed crucial make-overs like organizing slum into bees-quarters, managing security levels surrounding the territory, establishing in-house farming and lake facilities while at the same time she tackled foreign threats like her uncle Kushadhwaj.  Ram enters the story after a three fourth of the book. For her marriage she arranged a swayamvar that was a cladestine part of her endeavor leading to his establishment as the savior of Dharma in the society. He provided her with support and belief of a true companion, which she was lacking after her mother’s death.

Although the story unfolds the strong traits of Sita’s character it nowhere harms the strength and ability of mighty lord Ram. Amish has created a new image of Sita that is strong, determined, wise and capable maintaining her innocence and grace at the same time. A powerful soul in love with her country and highly determined to follow her karma for the betterment of India in coming ages.

Story unfolds several untouched characters such as:

Sunaina:  princess of Mizoram, queen of Mithila and Sita’s adoptive mother.
Radhika: a gurukul friend of Sita who later comes out to be cousin of Hanuman.
Samichi: a girl from slums who saved Seeta and later handled the force of Mithila and so on..
Jatayu: not only an obedient malayaputra but also a faithful brother to Sita…
Druhyu, Mara, Shaktivel and many more aiding as the key factors driving the destiny ahead In several distinctive ways.
Author has created a visionary yet believable world through his words which allures the reader to enter in. For instance Sita’s visit to Agastyakootam was described fantastically. Monolithic creation and it’s organization comes in front of sight as the reader sails through the red river, Thamiravaruni.

The 3 books of Ramachandra-series discusses emerging of the three characters Ram (scion of Ikshvaku), Sita (warrior of Mithila) and Raavan (Orphan of Aryavarta) till the kidnapping of Sita. After that a concluding book which merge them all is still to come out..

1. The story we all know couldn’t be described better than this. It not only maintains the mythological impact but details like biological weapons, technology behind pushpak-viman engrosses the modern time readers believe as well.

2. Sita, was a lady of power not only a follower of her husband…She must be read like this…She is the creator & destroyer as well.

1. Though the book is a satisfying read yet at some points typos and grammatical errors are there…But that hardly makes a difference I guess..

If you like reading, this is worth giving a shot..
